Who We Are
African Roots Collective CIC is a not-for-profit cultural organisation dedicated to nurturing African heritage through creativity, digital innovation, language, and community collaboration.
We are rooted in the African diaspora experience and driven by a mission to create meaningful cultural pathways for children, young people, families, and communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bridge African heritage with creativity, technology and community empowerment. We do this through three interconnected arms:
1. Language Innovation & Digital Creativity
We believe language is a gateway to culture, identity and pride.
This arm focuses on reimagining African language learning through modern tools and digital experiences.
We develop and support:
- Creative language-learning resources
- Digital content, apps and storytelling tools
- Innovation labs and collaborations with African language educators
- Cultural tech projects that bring African languages to life for a global audience
2. Youth Empowerment
Young people are at the heart of our work. We create opportunities for them to explore their identity, build confidence and lead cultural change.
Our youth-focused programmes include:
- Cultural leadership and mentoring
- Skill-building workshops (creative arts, digital storytelling, language, media)
- Volunteering, community projects and youth-led initiatives
- Safe cultural spaces for expression, belonging and creativity
3. Community & Creative Programmes
We bring people together through heritage, arts and collective creativity.
Our programmes strengthen intergenerational connections and celebrate the richness of African cultures.
We deliver:
- Community workshops and cultural events
- Creative arts sessions for families and adults
- Storytelling, crafts, music and heritage activities
- Partnerships with schools, museums and community organisations
Why Our Work Matters
